A photographic journey through the icy landscapes of Antarctica.

Mount Erebus

The majestic Mount Erebus. Taller than Mt. Fuji, and the southernmost active volcano on Earth (yes - active volcano). Less than 500 people have seen this view in person.

Ross Ice Shelf

Standing on the Ross Ice Shelf, staring at the glaciers crawling off of Mt. Erebus.

Fat Seal Pup Week

In case you weren't aware, Fat Seal Pup Week is hosted anually by the Weddell Seal Science team: https://www.facebook.com/weddellseal/

CAPE PETROL!!!

After 6 weeks of seeing zero wildlife, we finally got a visit from a Cape Petrol!

White Island

Our cape petrol friend flew across White Island for this awesome shot.

McMurdo Station sign

The new McMurdo Station, Antarctica sign overlooks the historic Scott Hut and McMurdo sound. In the distance the Royal Society range and Ross Sea are frozen over.

Mount Erebus, the Moon, and our mascot

Our camp mascot, a bright pink lawn flamingo, basking in the evening in front of Mount Erebus with the moon in the background.

Admiral Bird

I am hopeful that Antarctica in its symbolic robe of white will shine forth as a continent of peace as nations working together there in the cause of science set an example of international cooperation.

Returning home from Antarctica

I went to shovel snow in Antarctica. Then I got home. And shoveled more snow.

Caught in a snowstorm on a snowmachine

The one photo my Mom hates to see. The snowstorm rolled in and I was racing back to camp following the flag-marked trail as best as I could. Where is the horizon? Or the ground? Or the sky? Or north?

Always carry a flag with you

You never know when you'll be repping your state.
